Protect the northern facade from winds

The northern facade is the part of the house most exposed to the wind. Protect the wall bywindscreen installing a green (such as a hedge of cedars). This will effectively protect you against the North Winds, cold and wet! A lowered roof, an elevated facade (or buried low) may also dam you against northern winds, thereby reducing heat loss!
